Asking help about the Board layout

I have bought a board from you that we are considering for a large-scale project. We are trying to build a prototype at UNM. We are having trouble and we really need your help.

We really need the FPGA board to work.

We have ordered the MMP Board 2 (BD-MMP-BB2-G) from Avnet.

In the Getting Started guide for assistance in setting up the development board there are three DIP switches (SW13, SW14, SW15) and only SW15 is present on the board. According to the manual, "SW14 MUST BE SET PROPERLY WHEN INSTALLING A KINTEX-7 MINI-MODULE. THE SWITCH MUST BE SET IN THE “UP” POSITION TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE KINTEX-7 FPGA. INSURE THE PROPER SWITCH SETTING PRIOR TO APPLYING POWER TO THE BOARD.SEVERE DAMAGE TO THE MINI-MODULE CAN OCCUR IF THIS SWITCH IS NOT SET PROPERLY."

However, the board does not have these switches.

Can you please help us out with this issue in how should we proceed next?

Re: Asking help about the Board layout

SW13 and SW14 were placed on the BB2 to make the board backward compatible with the Virtex-5 MMP. These two switches set the appropriate voltages for the V5 MMP or K7 and Zynq MMP (K7 and Zynq MMP voltage requirements are the same). For example, SW14 sets the VCCAUX rail. The VCCAUX rail is 2.5V for the V5, but it is 1.8V for the K7 and Zynq MMP. So, as you can see setting the VCCAUX of the K7 MMP accidently to 2.5V won't be a good idea.

In order to avoid incorrect setting of voltages for the K7/Zynq MMP, we decided to repalce the SW13 and SW14 with 0 Ohms resistors on Rev B and make the default BB2 not backward compatible with the V5 MMP. Users can still manually remove and repopulate the 0 Ohms resistors to make the BB2 work with the V5, if they choose to. So, to make the long story short, you don't have to do anything to the board when using it with the K7 or Zynq MMP. You can safely power up the board.
