Camera resolution settings / Luminance

Hello,

I would like to use the camera in such a way that it outputs 512x512 images (yes it's quite an odd format) in a grayscale format (typically giving luminance info out). Is this possible at all with the OV9715 camera? If not can you suggest a sensor able to do that?

If yes, can you help with the sensor setup?

Thanks a lot

Re: Camera resolution settings / Luminance

Romain,

It is possible to crop the image sensor's input.

The image sensor outputs 1280x800.

The IVK's EDK reference design contains code that crops this to obtain 1280x720, 640x480.

What frame rate do you need ?

It is not possible to configure the image sensor to generate a grayscale output, since there are color filters (bayer pattern).  You can use the FPGA to convert this to grayscale.  The IVK's EDk reference design is converting the raw bayer output to RGB, you just need to add a RGB to Grayscale conversion.

Mario.

Re: Camera resolution settings / Luminance

Hi Mario,

Thanks for your fast reply.

I'll need 30 fps as frame rate...

That would really be helpful! For grayscale, I'll work my way through with the FPGA...
