The Xilinx page for this board states it "is no longer in production, and can not be purchased":
I see no indication it's being discontinued on the Avnet site.
Is this board still in production? Is it scheduled for end of life?

I am told that we do not plan to build this product again due to limited sales. Therefore, it is marked for end-of-life. However, a minimum quantity last-time build would be considered. Avnet would also consider providing the source files to an interested customer if they wanted to continue building the product for themselves. You can make these requests through your local FAE or firstname.lastname@example.org.

Thanks for the reply Bryan -- sad to see it's being discontinued but I'm glad we have a chance to pick some up before we go.
Are there any new boards coming out that might have comparable capability to this one?

I'm very interested to hear your feedback. What features on the LX16 board did you find most useful?
We've been doing a lot of work with Zynq lately, whose dual-core ARM is a superior processing option to a Spartan-6 MicroBlaze. MicroZed is one of our Zynq boards -- see www.microzed.org.

We've mostly used this board as a gateway to integrate devices with non-standard interfaces to standards-based systems communicating over Ethernet.
We implement the non-standard interface as VHDL custom IP and exchange the data with code on the Microblaze, which performs the necessary processing and runs the Ethernet stack.
We generally need a fair number of I/O pins to implement the interface (so far the MXP connector has always provided enough) but we don't use the PSoC, the battery, or the USB port.
I'll take a look at those other two options -- they're both new to me though and we've gotten a lot of mileage out of re-use of the Spartan-6 development so I'd hate to have to start over again...
